Hexoskin does not report the number of "wakes" during the night. Instead, it reports the total "wake time". To obtain the number of “wake time”, you can manually count them during a night of sleep. You will find the data related to the different sleep phases in the file sleep_phase.csv (data downloaded in binary format).
Our algorithm classifies the sleep phase as “wake” as soon as there is a lot of movement.
Therefore, Hexoskin will report a change in sleep position as a “wake time”. If you want to confirm that the wake time that you detect is due to a change in position, you can compare and correlate the “wake time” (i.e. data in sleep_phase.csv file) with the change of position (i.e. data in sleep_position.csv file).
Also, physiologically, it is normal to detect more movement just before and after a REM phase. Therefore, it is normal to have the sequence “non-REM, wake, REM, wake” during a night of sleep.
