Hexoskin has designed different Fitness Tests to assess your level of physical fitness and to calculate your cardiorespiratory metrics (displayed in the Cardiorespiratory Status section in the Health Status tab on the Hexoskin Dashboard). The cardiorespiratory metrics computed from the fitness tests include Heart Rate Recovery (HR recovery), Heart Rate Max (HRmax), Resting Heart Rate, and VO2 max.
These tests depend in part on GPS data for calculating the distance covered during the test. In the event that you wish to complete the Fitness Tests, but GPS data is not accessible or available, here are your alternatives:
For the 12-minute Cooper test (for VO2max calculation):
- Perform the test on the track with a known length (i.e. 400 m indoor track for example) or on a treadmill that displays the distance covered
- With the Hexoskin app, start a "Run" activity
- Run for 12 minutes
- At the end of the 12 minutes, stop the run activity on the app
- Take the distance traveled over the 12-minute run and put it in these formulae* used by our servers to calculate your VO2max
Kilometers: VO2max = (22.351 x kilometers) - 11.288
Miles: VO2max = (35.97 x miles) - 11.29
* based on this reference
For the 400m maximal test (for HRmax and HR recovery calculation):
This test should be working without GPS data. However, you would have to keep track of the distance traveled (1 lap around the 400 m track for example) to stop the app after completing the 400m run. The calculations of the HRmax and the HR recovery will still be done by the Hexoskin App (i.e. no manual calculations are needed here).
