VO2 is a measure of oxygen consumption or the volume of oxygen that is used by your body to generate energy.
VO2max is the maximum rate of consumption of oxygen per minute during maximal aerobic exercise. It is considered the best indicator of cardiorespiratory fitness.
VO2max is usually expressed in L/min or it is normalized by the mass of the person in mL/kg/min. The average VO2max is around 35-40 mL/kg/min for an untrained man and around 27-31 mL/kg/min for an untrained woman, based on Heywood, V (1998).
With Hexoskin, you can get an estimate of your VO2max by performing a “12 Minute Run Fitness Test” available on the Hexoskin app. This is equivalent to a Cooper Test that provides an estimate of the VO2max based on your profile information and the distance covered for a 12-minute run (measured with GPS data - to activate your GPS, follow the instructions in this link).
Please note that the VO2max value is NOT based on the respiratory data collected by Hexoskin.
If the “12 Minute Run Fitness Test” is NOT completed, Hexoskin will use a default value of VO2max according to the age and gender of the user (specified in the table below) and this will be used to estimate the energy expenditure of the user.
